I don’t consider myself a wise person, actually quite the opposite much of the time! But, I do think that wisdom comes through me from time to time. This is what happens when we create and open to that mysterious flow, where music / songs / poetry / art etc, comes from. It comes through me, but at the same time it’s something that’s not mine, and I don’t have a comfortable ownership of it. More like a parent, we don’t own our children, but at the same time we own our children, at least for a while…when they need us, we are the responsible ones, but when we’re not needed we need to be out of the way.
I’ve been exploring, researching and enjoying this aspect of creativity for a good portion of my life, and want to share my thoughts on it, and open a conversation where people can share there’s.
First of all, I don’t for a second believe that some people are creative and others not. Even the thought “I’m not creative”, is in reality an act of incredible and miraculous creativity! And then to believe it and have that thought act upon us, impacting our actual life, is a genuine marvel! Clear proof to the immeasurable creative power that exists in all of us!
I don’t know if practice is the right word…but for sure giving attention, giving space for that creative power, that is something that not everyone does, and this is something I can talk about. Because I have and I do.
I don’t know if this creative capacity inside us gets stronger, or more or better or something like that if we practice, but I can say that by becoming more familiar with it, then it can become more consciously part of our life. Something that can be enjoyed and also utilised. Employed in a chosen direction. This wonderful knowingly doing something and not knowing what will result, and trusting to the process that what will occur, will be what’s needed.
